I had always liked this phrase, before I got it tattooed on the left side of my ribs. Steve Jobs said it, and when he died in October 2011, I was going through some really tough times. Now I live this phrase every day, and I’m past those tough times.
It reminds me that though I have lofty life goals and I’m sure to fail more often than I’d like, as long as I keep living and learning, and trying to better myself and the people around me every day, my life is fulfilling - and I’m happy. It reminds me to appreciate the here and now, and not worry so much about the future.
I’m from Northern California, so the pine firs in the foreground remind me of home. Off in the distance… who knows where I’ll go? But the journey will be its own reward.

Retriever Wows Collectors at Pine Cone Convention
The International Pine Cone Collectors Association (IPCCA) held its annual convention in St. Louis, MO this week, and attendees enjoyed a rare treat.
“A golden retriever brought in the largest collection of jumbo cones I’d ever seen,” says Margie Wolcott, who has attended the convention every year since 1985. “The color, the texture — I’ve never seen anything like it.”
